HERBERT TO PARTICIPATE IN SECOND "CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES" SAFE DRIVING SEMINAR

Doug Herbert, owner and driver of the SnaponFranchise.com Top Fuel dragster, will be speaking at a second “Choices and Consequences” seminar to help promote safe driving.

After losing his sons, Jon, 17, and James, 12, in an automobile accident just a few months ago, Herbert has made it his mission to help prevent other parents,  families, and friends from experiencing what he has been feeling since the tragic loss of his boys.

BRAKES – Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe – is the foundation Herbert has founded to prevent such tragedies.

“We are really making headway with the BRAKES program,” said Herbert. “I am looking forward to speaking to the students and their parents about BRAKES at the ‘Choices and Consequences’ seminar. We had a good turnout last time, and I think this one will be just as good.

“Ultimately, I don’t want anyone else out there to experience this. If we can get one teenager to think twice about how they drive, then we are making a difference and maybe saving a life.”

“Choices and Consequences – What Every Driver Should Know” will take place Tuesday, April 22, at Michael Waltrip’s Raceworld USA in Cornelius, N.C., from 6 – 8 p.m.

BRAKES is a safe driving foundation inspired by the loss of Doug Herbert’s two sons, Jon,17, and James,12, in a tragic automobile accident in January 2008. BRAKES (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe), the name chosen by Jon’s senior classmates at SouthLake Christian Academy, is dedicated to educating teen drivers on safe driving and to ultimately save lives. Put on the Brakes, the charitable foundation behind BRAKES, is a 501(c)(3) organization. For more information, visit www.putonthebrakes.com.
