Nitro Funny Car driver Bob Gilbertson is chomping at the bit waiting to get back on track at this weekend's NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway.

 

Atlanta Dragway has been good to Gilbertson in the past as he's scored semi-final round finishes there and he's looking to keep the momentum going at this year's event in his new Tradicion Azul Tequila Dodge Stratus.

 

"This is going to be a big race for me and my team," Gilbertson said.  "Qualifying will be tough and the new track surface might throw us a curveball but I'm confident that my crew chief Nicky (Boninfante) and the team will give me a race car that will go down the track and hopefully we'll go some rounds and make some noise.  Our goal is to be the highest qualified independent team and knock off some of the hitters, and if the driver does his job who knows, maybe our Atlanta luck will continue."
