WORLD FOOTBRAKE CHALLENGE II SET FOR MAY 23-25; PRE-ENTRY DISCOUNT EXTENDED TO MAY 1

The 2nd annual World Footbrake Challenge is set for May 23-25 at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, TN. Promoters Jared Pennington and Steve Stites have finalized the date for the second edition of the World’s Greatest Footbrake Race, despite just failing to reach the 125 pre-entries the duo required to host the event.

“The 2007 event was a monstrous success,” said Pennington. “Steve and I basically just assumed that the 2008 event would grow to be even bigger and better. Unfortunately, the race has had a lot of things working against it. First of all, I suppose that we were fairly naïve as promoters; and we really haven’t worked as hard to make the race successful as we did last season. That’s our fault. Plus, economic turmoil, higher gas prices, and political uncertainty have obviously had an effect on every racer, Steve and I included. So, obviously, our pre-entry count is down. But we have decided to take a risk--and we’re going to host the 2nd annual World Footbrake Challenge at Bristol, as scheduled. We have several new sponsors, and of course the $100,000-plus purse is guaranteed. We hope to see everyone at Bristol next month!”

As such, the discounted $675 pre-entry rate has been extended to May 1. To enter, send check or money order to Coalburg Racing Promotions, 411 CR 400, Falkner, MS 38629. VISA and Mastercard are also accepted. To enter via credit card, contact Steve Stites at 662-837-8166 or Jared Pennington at 205-612-3502. Entry is also available at the event, but weekend entry is $800 at the gate.

The 2008 World Footbrake Challenge is once again highlighted by an enormous $50,000-to-win Saturday main event, book ended by a pair of $10,000-to-win events on Friday and Sunday. The purse structure and payback is virtually unchanged from the inaugural event. For a complete flyer and detailed information, visit www.WorldFootbrakeChallenge.com.
