NHRA ON ARMED FORCES NETWORK

NHRA has announced the continuation of its relationship with the American Forces Network (AFN) to deliver the unique sights and sounds of NHRA POWERade Drag Racing to their overseas audience.

“We are excited to offer the 2008 season of National Hot Rod Association races to our service men and women and their families across the globe,” said Jeff White, Executive Director of the Defense Media Center, American Forces Network.  “We schedule the most popular sports on AFN and we thank the NHRA for extending this opportunity to our troops and their families stationed worldwide.”

The U.S. Armed Forces, along with DoD civilian employees and their families, will be able to follow the NHRA’s POWERade Drag Racing Series all season long on AFN and the U.S. Navy’s Direct-to-Sailor (DTS) television service to ships at sea.

In an agreement with the NHRA and ESPN, Inc., the AFN Broadcast Center plans to provide tape delayed distribution of ESPN2’s television coverage of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series on its AFN|xtra channel, which is also available to the U.S. Navy’s DTS television service.

The Department of Defense operates AFN American Forces Network®. AFN, a worldwide radio and television broadcast network, serves nearly one-million American service men and women, Department of Defense civilians and their families overseas stationed at bases in 177 countries, as well as 140 U.S. Navy ships at sea. AFN broadcasts the most popular American radio and television programs from all the major networks. For more information on AFN's programming, please visit www.myafn.net.
