CHARLOTTE DRAG STRIP ANNOUNCEMENT

The National Hot Rod Association will bring their brand of championship drag racing to the Carolinas with a "national event" at the drag strip currently under construction on Lowe's Motor Speedway property, according to a track press release. Bruton Smith, the chairman of Speedway Motorsports, which owns and operates numerous NASCAR and NHRA tracks across the country, will attend the press conference. Others scheduled to be in attendance are Top Fuel owner-driver Doug Herbert of Lincolnton, Funny Car driver Ron Capps, 2007 Pro Stock world champ Jeg Coughlin Jr., and King's Matt Smith, the '07 Pro Stock Motorcycle world champ.
