STEVENS READY TO MELT RUBBER DOWN UNDER

While most Americans will be enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving weekend holiday, Australians will be gathering at Shepparton in Victoria for the 15th Annual Street Commodores Spring Nats Car Show, said to be among the largest in the nation.

Highlighting the weekend’s activities will be Brett “The Boss” Stevens’ Jack Daniels-sponsored Falcon Burnout Ute, a Down Under-produced pickup powered by a 2,500 horsepower alcohol-fueled engine.

No, this isn’t a drag race vehicle, it’s a machine built specifically to annihilate its tires in what often appears to be a never-ending burnout that goes nowhere!  Stevens’ machine isn’t the only one of its kind in Australia, where these kinds of activities are growing more popular with each passing year.  It’s a companion piece to Stevens’ race-built Falcon Ute, which is used for “the real thing.”

Not to worry about that Spring Nats moniker, mates.  Remember, our fall is their spring, and our winter is their summer, so you’ll understand when we begin reporting on Australia’s biggest drag races when most of us are shoveling snow out of our driveways!

“The Springnats is one of the leading car shows in the country, and with its 15th birthday this year, it is shaping up to be one of the best yet,” Stevens said.

“There will be all the usual favorite events like the burnout competition, show and shine, dyno competition, go to whoa and spear a spud, as well as the addition by the organizers of the Jack Daniel’s After Party at the Shepparton Showgrounds where the cars can keep running late into the night.

“One of the things I like best about Shepparton is the burnout pad. It’s probably the biggest in Australia and I can really let loose in my Burnout Ute, giving it a good workout.

“The crowds here always appreciate when I tear up a brand new set of Drag Racing tires.  They really love their burnouts and I love putting on a show for them.”

As well as heating up the action on the burnout pad, Stevens will also have his Jack Daniel’s Racing and SP Racing Ford Falcon Top Doorslammer race cars on display for fans before they are loaded back into the team’s transporter on Sunday night and sent to Perth for the next round of the National Drag Racing Championship.
