2014 LEGION OF HONOR NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

The nominees for the 2014 Legion of Honor Awards presented annually at the Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion event presented at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds on July 11-12th were announced today by the National Nostalgia Drag Racing Association.
 
The annual induction of the legends and pioneers of the drag racing performance industry from the early days of the 1950’s thru the 1970’s era.  Each recipient receives an individual award, a prized photo from the archives, and their names placed upon a perpetual award that is on display at the Eastern Museum of MotorRacing located just off Route 15 in York Springs, Pennsylvania.  The perpetual award remains in the museum in perpetuity.

The distinguished group contributed in varying degrees of involvement, some as race car drivers, as officials, industry representatives, manufacturers, track promoters or development of specialized racing products with dedication far beyond the call of duty.  The NNDRA presents these awards symbolic of a Hall of Fame each year at the York event.
 
Recipients for 2014 are Carl Ruth, Reading, Pennsylvania; Marv Ripes, Woodland Hills, California; Bill Drevo, Jr., Dickinson, Texas;  Jimmy King, Warren, Rhode Island; Pete Shadinger, Scottsdale, Arizona; Jim Walther, Wilkesboro, North Carolina; Harold Denton, Middlesex, North Carolina; Bill Zinkhan, Hammonton, New Jersey; Dave Bishop, Easton, Maryland; Bob McCardle, Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania; Kenn Schulz, Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, Tom Myl, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dick Arons, Warren, Michigan; and an honorary induction of the late Wally Parks, Glendora, California founder and past president of the National Hot Rod Association, award will be received by Linda Vaughn “Miss Hurst Golden Shifter”.
 
The induction ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, July 12th a 6 p.m.
