“The last day felt good for our Matco Tools team,” said Brown. “They worked hard and we showed up. Our teammates did very well too. The Battery Extender car went .79, .79 … the Army team stepped up today and went .76 and .78. All three of our DSR cars are looking on track. We’re pretty excited and amped up to get to Pomona. 2014 is a new year. We are all ready to go out there and contend for the championship.”

The week of testing was a mixed bag of results as Brown and other teams suffered through an inordinate amount of tire shake early in the week. By Saturday those were distant memories.

“We learned a whole lot more than how to shake the tires,” said Brown. “The track came around these last two days. We went back out there and it got back to being normal. This track is like no other. It’s got teeth that will hold anything. It showed this weekend.”

All of Brown’s runs on Friday and Saturday were in the 3.70s.

“You don’t go to other tracks and do that,” Brown pointed out. “It was stout out here. Now we have to go back to the shop and get back to work, put our heads down and hit Pomona in attack mode. We gotta go in there … be poised and get after it.”

Shawn Langdon’s 3.726 elapsed time on Friday stood as low elapsed time for the entire test session.
