BRITTANY FORCE TESTS CANOPY-EQUIPPED DRAGSTER

Force told Competition Plus Monday night she will be making her inaugural test laps with a canopy on her John Force Racing Top Fuel dragster.

“We just got the canopy car and we got it all put together (Monday night) and I got a seat poured for it, so our plan is to test at West Palm and then I’m pretty sure I will be in it at (the season-opening Winternationals) unless something changes,” Force said.

“For us, the canopy is more about safety,” Force said. “I think it will be a safer ride having the canopy. I’m also a little nervous about running it just because it is different and I’m not used to it. I have been running all year without it. (Tuesday) will be my first time running the canopy car. Our plan is to get four to five laps every single day we are out here. I think our plan is that we will be testing Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. One of those days I think the guys will just service the car and we will not be running and then Friday and Saturday I might be running my (dragster) that doesn’t have the canopy.”

Force said the testing in her canopy-equipped dragster was something that had been in the works.

“They were talking about it for a while and I knew eventually we were going to be running it,” Force said. “I didn’t know when and we were hoping to do it earlier, but we have it ready for this week. My concern with the canopy is that I’m not used to having all that closed around me. I’m used to everything being open. My only other concern is that I will have less vision with the canopy and that makes me a little nervous. Once I make a few runs in it I will adjust to it and I will be fine.”

Although Force’s life has become very hectic in a short period of time, she is enjoying the ride.

“I’m really pumped up and excited and I’m obviously nervous,” Force said. “I think Pomona will be a little overwhelming with everything going on and also because the last time I competed in a race was in the A-fuel dragster in 2010.”
