The former Director of Sales for the ADRL turned front man for the new Xtreme-Drag Racing League [X-DRL] is on the aggressive now that the Texas-based doorslammer oriented race series has officially announced their existence.

Friday, during a gathering of racers, sponsors and executives at the Omni – Severin hotel ballroom in Indianapolis, Goolsby unveiled an eight race schedule with the possibility two more races could be added in the coming weeks.

“It’s challenging and going to be quite a challenge,” Goolsby said. “My challenge is to put a professionally organized product out there and I think the rest will fall into place.”

The X-DRL will open their inaugural eight-event season on April 6 – 7 at the Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This event is followed by stops in Bristol, Tenn., Belle Rose, La., St. Louis, Budds Creek, Md., Crandall, Tex., Dinwiddie, Va., Montgomery, Ala., and Charlotte, NC. The Tulsa event will be the only Saturday and Sunday meet as the others are Friday and Saturday.

“We only plan to go to first class facilities who are dedicated to promoting our races,” Goolsby said. “We plan to do our national event advertising through our website, Facebook connections, email blasts and the tracks will handle the local promotions. The events where the local tracks got behind the events and promoted, they were very well attended. The ones that weren’t suffered.”

Goolsby said the X-DRL will most likely be a pay-ticket format in 2013.

“It is subject to change but the tracks have skin in the game here,” said Goolsby. “Our product is worth paying for.”

The eighth-mile series will present eight classes of competition including Pro X-treme, Pro Nitrous, X-treme Pro Stock, Pro Turbo, X-treme Pro Modified, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Pro Junior Dragster and Supercar Showdown. The status of Pro Extreme Motorcycle is still undecided at this time.

Goolsby confirmed the X-DRL has already secured a healthy number of major and class sponsorships, which will be announced at a later time.

An impressive schedule and a growing number of backers, including a score of racer commitments, have Goolsby excited for 2013.

“The thing that most excites me here is that we have a clean-sheet of paper here,” Goolsby admitted. “I wasn’t going to do this without several key members of personnel here. I think people understand what kind of experience we are going to have. We have heard from our racers how they want to race in front of people and be safe. We will have the personnel to do this and we picked up the track we feel will put butts in the seats.”
