Naylor, driver of the Jagermeister Dodge Stratus, was invited to the convention to give East Coast media an inside look at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series from the business standpoint and the drivers’ seat. Representatives from NHRA, NASCAR, IRL and other series were in attendance.

After speaking to a captivated crowd -- and answering a myriad of questions -- Naylor, with NHRA Media Relations Manager Lachelle Seymour, offered to send extra motorsports goodies given to the media to soldiers overseas.

Within minutes an announcement about the collection was made, and a small pile of bags grew to a mound.

Naylor will haul the care packages from his home in Pennsylvania to Southern California before the 47th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals, where the gifts will be mailed from NHRA headquarters in Glendora, Calif.

While the goodies will no doubt be hot-ticket items in Iraq and Afghanistan, Naylor himself, and wife Jane, were among the most sought-after couples at the conference.
