Doner defeated southeastern doorslammer legend Rickie Smith by scoring 75.68 percent of the votes in their race.

Doner defeated southeastern doorslammer legend Rickie Smith by scoring 75.68 percent of the votes in their race.

Doner becomes the first participant to reach the final round in his first try since the story-telling event began in 2007. Past winners include Scotty Cannon (2007) and John Force (2008).

Doner will meet the winner of the Louis Force/Pat Musi match scheduled for later today. The winner of this match must exceed a 75.68 share of the vote total for lane choice, or in other words, the opportunity to tell his story first.

The final round begins next Tuesday morning with voting concluding on Thursday evening.
