After nearly a decade’s absence, Patrick plans to bring his new look and same familiar intense attitude into the NHRA 500-inch Pro Stock arena.

“I wanted a car that looked like a throwback to the factory backed teams,” said Patrick, whose family owns the Purvis Ford dealership in Fredericksburg. “The body style looks so much like the cars of yesterday that it was really cool to adopt that look. It was a good look back then and it remains the same.”

The vintage blue and white scheme was created by Eddie Hollon and the paint was applied by Jeff Hoskins.

Patrick is eager to kick off his return to NHRA 500-inch racing, where he’s scheduled to launch the new campaign at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.

“I really can’t wait to get something on the dyno and see where we are at,” said Patrick, whose new Jerry Bickel-built Ford will run a Bob Ingles engine with CFE heads and Bob Book induction. “Our goal is to start testing as early as possible and hit the track competitive at the first race.”

Patrick confirmed a series of test dates with the new car in early January.

Patrick also plans a series of Extreme Pro Stock races with the ADRL in addition to the NHRA events.
