MUSI AND CHRISTIAN FEUDING AGAIN?

They were once heated rivals in the Pro Street movement of the 1990s.

In the years that have passed, the animosity between Pat Musi and Tony Christian might have appeared to settle. Ask either one and they’ll tell you that is just wishful thinking.

The rivalry, which has been in mothballs, is on again and if the two of them have their way, this one will be settled on the drag strip, again.

Musi’s attendance at last weekend’s PSCA Street Car Super Nationals reignited the embers of an old feud into a blazing fire they agree will only be settled in a no-holds barred drag strip battle. Those who know both believe the fight after the run could be as entertaining as the match race.

Musi, of Carteret, NJ, has returned to the Pro Street ranks with a new Jerry Bickel Dodge Stratus powered by a 903-inch, electronic fuel injected engine.

Benefitting from a lightweight car and the loss of 45 pounds from his personal frame, an inspired Musi piped up, saying, “I don’t give a s*** who is in the other lane, they're going to get something.”

That was more than Christian, who now lives in Sarasota, Fla., could stand to read.

“Musi should be happy I’m not coming to Vegas,” Christian wrote in a letter to CompetitionPlus.com. “We can be 150 pounds lighter than in Orlando. So do the math I ran a 6.29 CBS_0531out there (which I also feel I ran like s***) and let’s see how fast he goes. Talk is cheap.”

Musi believes his talk isn’t cheap and because of that he’s issuing a challenge to his adversary.

“Bring it on,” Musi said. “You run whatever you want. Forget the rules. I don’t want to hear any crying. Someone put up the money, and I will run you anytime … anywhere. I beat you back in the day and I will beat you again.

“If some drag strip operator wants to make money, book us in … I promise you … we’ll pack the place.”

Christian laughed at Musi’s challenge and countered.

“I don’t ever remember you beating me at any place that Bob Reiger and I raced at,” Christian said. “I’ll run you anywhere for what the promoter is willing to pay us but we run under Orlando rules, there has to be some rules. And I tell you what, whatever the promoter is willing to pay us; we’ll add an additional $5,000, just between you and me.”
