Today and Sunday, the fastest and quickest Doorslammers in the world will descend on Virginia Motorsports Park for the Al-Anabi Shootout featuring over $50,000 in purse money.

Highlighting the list of big names competing is Mike Castellana, the world's quickest and fastest Pro Mod (5.919 at 240 MPH!!).  Due to nearly ideal weather conditions temperature wise, fans may get a chance to see that record broken, resulting in the first ever 5.80 Nitrous Pro Mod pass in history.

Today and Sunday, the fastest and quickest Doorslammers in the world will descend on Virginia Motorsports Park for the Al-Anabi Shootout featuring over $50,000 in purse money.

Highlighting the list of big names competing is Mike Castellana, the world's quickest and fastest Pro Mod (5.919 at 240 MPH!!).  Due to nearly ideal weather conditions temperature wise, fans may get a chance to see that record broken, resulting in the first ever 5.80 Nitrous Pro Mod pass in history.

If that record falls, it would come just one week after VMP's world class surface produced the fastest ET ever by an NHRA Pro Stock car (VMP now holds the elapsed time world record in NHRA's top three classes).

In the Outlaw eighth mile shootout, fans will see door slammer cars lay down 200+ MPH passes in the eighth mile. The Outlaw10.5 Quarter Mile Shootout as well as the Western Beef Drag Radial Class is expected to deliver some wild racing action. In addition, VMP will be running its ET Points Series and 8.50 & 10.00 Indexes on Saturday only. Pro Nitrous Quarter Mile Shootout, Outlaw Eighth Mile Shootout, Outlaw 10.5 Quarter Mile Shootout, and the Western Beef Drag Radial class will qualify Saturday and race Sunday.

Gates open at 9 AM both days and spectator admission is just $10 per car load. On Saturday, VMP Bracket time runs kick off at 11 AM with Index Qualifying to follow at noon.  Then the big boys take over with Al Anabi Shootout Classes Qualifying at 1 and 3 PM.  VMP Bracket and Index classes will hold eliminations later Saturday afternoon. 

On Sunday it's all Al Anabi with eliminations in all Shootout classes set for a noon start time.
