According to our source close to the negotiations, a proposed drag strip near the Ocala, Florida area was voted down by Marion County commissioners in whose jurisdiction the facility would lie. The measure was rejected by the commissioners in a four-hour-long meeting on Tuesday, November 21. All five commissioners voted no on the proposal.

Our source said that the main opposition to the track came from local horse breeders, who said their "way of life" would have been hampered. Thus, the idea for an Ocala-based drag strip will not be pursued by the parties involved in its building. More on this later.
