CLASSIC VIDEO REWIND: PRO MODIFIED AT THE 1990 IHRA FALL NATIONALS

Pro Modified turns 20 years old in 2010 and while spending our usual time browsing YouTube.com, we fould this ESPN video gem dating back to 1990. This video features quarter-final action from the 1990 IHRA Fallnationals in Bristol, Tenn. Tim McAmis would eventually go on to win the title. This video features many of the first year players including Ronnie Sox, Blake Wiggins, Fred Hahn, Scotty Cannon and Ed Hoover.

CLASSIC VIDEO: 1973 IHRA NORTHERN NATS - MUNCIE, IND.

This video was originally aired on Speedvision, now commonly referred to as SPEED. Before both Milan Dragway and U.S. 131 Dragway staged their Nothern Nationals events, this race was conducted in Muncie, Ind. This classic video features on the 1973 Northern Nationals and features some of the finest racers of the era on the IHRA tour. Watching this video will make one appreciate the level of safety in today's drag racing as well as the basic drag strip "creature" comforts.

In the early years of the their broadcasts, the NHRA used this medium as a means of gaining television coverage for its annual Winternationals and in some seasons, the U.S. Nationals.

On any given Sunday in the late 1980s, you could see Charles Carpenter, Tommy Mauney, Scotty Cannon, Ed Hoover and Blake Wiggins just to name a few.

ASHLEY FORCE HOOD FEATURED IN LATEST KRISTA MARIE VIDEO

ashleyNHRA Funny Car racer Ashley Force Hood and her Castrol GTX Ford Mustang team are featured in the new music video by rising country star Krista Marie for her next hit single “Tomboy.” The video footage was shot at zMax Dragway before the NHRA Carolinas Nationals this year. In addition to the pit footage, race footage from Ashley Force Hood’s historic win at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals is also included in the video.

VIDEO - CLASSIC IHRA TOP SPORTSMAN QUICK EIGHT

We came across this YouTube gem featuring the first round of Top Sportsman Quick Eight action at the IHRA Gateway Nationals in St. Louis. Scotty Cannon won the competition and became the first and only driver in the pre-Pro Modified era to win the Saturday night Quick Eight and Sunday's Quick 32 bracket race.
