CPTV VIDEO - RON CAPPS CRASHES HIS NAPA FUNNY CAR

NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series racer Ron Capps, 51, from Carlsbad, Calif., was okay after a racing incident in the first round of the Funny Car portion of the NHRA Traxxas Nitro Shootout at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. The parachutes in Capps’ NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car deployed late in the shutdown area and the racecar continued into the sand trap. Capps’ Funny Car flipped upside down and was caught by the safety net. Capps, with the assistance of NHRA emergency services, exited the dragster under his own power. He was checked by NHRA emergency services before being released.
