Troy Coughlin Jr. clinched the 2019 East Region Top Alcohol Dragster championship Saturday with a clutch win at the Power in the Park Division1 finale at Virginia Motorsports Park. It's Coughin's second straight regional title, pairing with the North Central Region title he won last year.
"You win with people," Coughlin said. "Talk about ability; the guys on this JEGS.com team are so damn tenacious. They had their hearts set on winning this thing and they went out there and made it happen. I really didn't even drive my best but they covered me every round and here we are with another championship. I'm speechless."

It’s never good to covet another person’s possessions, but for Gary Howe of Gig Harbor, Washington, he couldn’t help it.
From the first time he saw Carl Downard’s 1955 Chevy, he had to have it. The interesting part of the story is he first saw the shoebox in a video.

Wrapping up another incredible season of NMRA Keystone Automotive Drag Racing Series, the 21st Annual Nitto Tire NMRA All-Ford World Finals at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, was made even more epic as it was run in conjunction with the Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival. The weather was hot and so was the competition as the NMRA racers battled it out for crucial last-minute points as championships were won and lost, records were set, and priceless photos were taken in the Aerospace Components Winner’s Circle.

Shawn Langdon understands drag racing presents many choices.
For instance, he can run a grueling 24-race NHRA Funny Car season, and if he’s the most successful, pocket $500,000 for winning an NHRA Mello Yello Series championship.
Or, he can jump in his Super Comp dragster and win it over the course of a week while bracket racing.

It’s not fast, but it’s slow.
Ellis Buth has heard all the jokes, and while they might be good for a chuckle, but he’s all business when he pulls his 113 horsepower 1976 Pinto to the starting line.

The Super Stock/A division was at one time was the top of the line for the then factory hot rods. It was an A-classed car, with a manual transmission which meant the level of badassery was at a premium to race with this group. Over the years, such programs as the merger with Modified Eliminator in 1982, and later the Dodge Hemi Shootout, and the addition of the Factory Stock classifications took some of the luster off of the old meat eaters. But for three diehard Super Stock racers, the breed is still lurking in the staging lanes and ready to devour the competition.
