VETERAN PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE RACER JIMMY UNDERDAHL MAKES U.S. NATIONALS APPEARANCE

Veteran Pro Stock Motorcycle competitor Jimmy Underdahl was back racing at the recent Denso U.S. Nationals.

Underdahl was piloting a Suzuki for the Underdahl-Stoffer Racing team. He qualified No. 14 with a 6.955-second at 194.74 mph. He lost in round one to Matt Smith when he had troubles on the starting line.

“We just wanted to get out here and see what we had in the bike for next year, and get it qualified,” Underdahl said. “This will probably be the last race for us this year. We had a bunch of family at the track and we came out here to have fun. It felt great getting back on the bike (Friday). I was anxious and all the things that go with it.”

Underdahl tested at Bradenton, Fla., before the PSM season-opening Gatornationals at Gainesville back in March, but the event was ultimately postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The last race Underdahl competed at was in July of 2019 at the Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Denver.

“We were planning on racing this year, but when all this stuff started happening we just decided to pull the plug,” Underdahl said. “We were going to try and run the full season but (COVID-19) shut everything down. We were able to drive (to the U.S. Nationals) and there were no flights involved. It was a 10-hour drive.”

When Underdahl isn’t racing, he works as an electrician.

“The work is steady, and we are busier than ever,” Underdahl said.
