Just days before the NHRA Fall Nationals are scheduled to kick off at the Texas Motorplex outside of Dallas, Texas, Compulink released an official statement to the media on Sunday evening. The creators of the official timing system for the NHRA announced that while their timing system will be used for the event, their staff will not be in attendance at the event for technical support. 

According to the statement, the issue dates back to October 2020, when the Texas Motorplex opted to go with another brand of timing system, thus ending a 35-year relationship. 

"It was certainly their option to freely choose whatever system they want," said Bob Brockmeyer, founder of Compulink Timing Systems. "The Compulink spec wiring was completely removed, and replaced with a method that is not fully compatible with the Compulink Timing System."

According to Compulink, NHRA was presented with a proposal to rewire the track to Compulink specs and requirements, as well as two members of its team to be onsite from Oct. 5-10.

"NHRA, on September 30, 2021 made the decision to re-install the Compulink, using the existing wiring," Brockmeyer explained. "Compulink has repeatedly informed NHRA of the potential errors that could be produced with such a setup. Purportedly, non-Compulink personnel are going to attempt the re-install, being totally unaware of all the details needed to ensure the perfect race Compulink has delivered for decades. This attempt is not advised or authorized By Compulink."

NHRA VP of Public Relations Jeffrey Young said the NHRA is moving forward and plans to have a great event. 

"We are using the NHRA Compulink system for the Stampede of Speed NHRA Fall Nationals," Young said. "We are excited about the historic event at the Texas Motorplex and look forward to a great week of celebrating NHRA Drag Racing."
