FEEDBACK FRIDAY – FROM THE GRANDSTANDS: OF WHISKEY, ICE CREAM AND SOURED STOMACHS
FEEDBACK ARTICLE – FROM THE GRANDSTANDS: OF WHISKEY, ICE CREAM AND SOURED STOMACHS
I've
enjoyed every 'From the Grandstands' article that I've read and hope
more is yet to come from Tim. I would like to see something on
"surviving a long day at the drags."
As an avid (read rabid) fan of drag racing and one that always plans
extensively for every event I attend, I can't help but be amazed at
some who seem to have had no planning at all. As an example; you'll
see a guy dragging his girl through the pits and she's wearing spike
heels and will probably have at least a couple miles more walking to do
before the day is through. Add to that a broad range of temperature and
other weather particulars - well, you get my point.
I'd be willing to share some of my 'tricks' learned through the years. - Bill Fry

Your article was a fine perspective of two Funny Car racers. I never knew Eric Medlen but the casting of Al as a gun fighter was precise. I have always thought that the drag racers were the last of the old west gun fighters with a win or die attitude. His gruff attitude was intimidating. I best remember his saying "Women and Old men drive Top Fuel" as a clear view of the difficulties of racing a funny car. I wonder what he would have thought of Ashley Force? A fine article. - David Benjamin
