Storytellers, the entertaining series created by the producers of Legends: The Series, allows drag racing's legends to tell their stories of the good old days for drag racing.
Jim Oddy had two things going against him in the Southern-born and bred Pro Modified division. No. 1, he was a Yankee. And, No. 2, he ran a blown doorslammer in a sea of nitrous cars. So when Oddy's driver, Fred Hahn, won a second consecutive race, the good ol' boys protested him and the series believed they had caught him. Turns out they were wrong, and the car was legal. The problem was that the celebration in the winner's circle was done, and the trophy given elsewhere.
The 1985 season was a banner one for drag racing, and Funny Car in particular. Filled with unique Funny Cars and scores of major sponsorships, drag racing fans were treated to hot rods such as the Kenny Bernstein Tempo and especially Dale Pulde's Buick Somerset Regal. The legends were very much involved in 1979, from Don Prudhomme to Don Garlits to Shirley Muldowney. Drag racing was still wide enough open to command an audience for such a documentary which would usually air in the afternoons on weekend when three channel, black and white television were still in the majority.
