THIS WEEK AT THE ‘FLING

From all across the United States and Canada, racers will be flocking to Bristol Dragway’s Thunder Valley this week for the Sparco Fall Fling presented by Optima Batteries as part of the Spring Fling brand of high dollar bracket races.

The original Spring Fling event held every year in Bristol in May has moved to the September date to take advantage of more favorable weather. “While we never had to cancel any of the five days of racing when the Spring Fling was held in May in Bristol,” says ‘Fling co-promoter Kyle Seipel, “there was always the possibility of rain. However, we might have lost a day or two, but we always more than made up for the loss by doubling up the purse the following day. Racers know that when they come to a ‘Fling event, not only do we guarantee the purse but we always pay out every bit of what we advertise.”

This year, the Spring Fling May event was held at Galot Motorsports Park in North Carolina and as such, co-promotors Seipel and Peter Biondo made the decision to move the Bristol event to September; which in addition to the Spring Fling Million held in Las Vegas; made it three big events for the brand. The action begins on Tuesday with a Test & Tune session followed by the Race Tech/American Race Cars Dragster Shootout with both the winner and runner-up receiving brand new dragsters. Wednesday becomes Yukon Gear & Axle Wednesday with a $15,000 to win race. The ante is upped for both Racepak Thursday and JEGS Saturday with $20,000 to win each day. New for 2017 is ATI Performance Friday with an increased purse and $50,000 going to the winner in addition to increased round monies and prizes. Thursday night a special Door Car Shootout takes place with $10,000 on the line.

ATI Performance Friday will also have the Fall Fling Reaction Time Challenge where 20 randomly selected drivers will be eligible for $1,000 in cash should they exhibit a perfect reaction time. A special Racer Appreciation Party sponsored by Sparco will also take place Friday night. With over $60,000 in round prizes and other awards, this is one event where almost everyone goes home a winner. All of the action will be streamed live by MotorManiaTV.com thanks to JEGS and Hoosier Tires.

This event will also bring the ‘Fling brand into the cyberspace era where a special text messaging service will be available to alert anyone of schedule changes, staging lane calls along with winner’s circle photos and other important information. "Any racers, friends or family wanting to receive text updates from Bristol, can do so by texting the word Fling to 797979," said Seipel.
