Pro Modified on the NHRA tour appears uncertain for 2009 or at least in its announced capacity, this according to Jegs ProMod Series administrator Rob Geiger. A letter informing series competitors was issued today providing options to keep the exhibition category alive.

According to the letter, a failed sponsorship commitment amounting to $500,000 fell through leaving an increased financial burden on Jegs.

“Jegs essentially came in and rescued the series last season and with the help of many generous races the series prospered,” Geiger admitted. “Even though there was support from outside entities Jegs ended up spending more than expected to keep the program first class.

“The time has come that everyone is going to have to step up if we are going to race. The burden of this entire series just cannot be placed on the shoulders of one company. That’s the bottom line.

“We are not giving up by any means.”
