| A rainy Saturday afternoon of YouTube searching netted us this two-part gem apparently aired on ABC's Wide World of Sports. In the past, the NHRA used this medium as a means of gaining television coverage for its annual Winternationals and in some seasons, the U.S. Nationals.

| The IHRA sanctioned their first and last drag race in Charlotte during the 1974. While this video, originally broadcast on Speedvision, which is now Speed TV, showed good footage from the event, the horrific deaths of three people on Saturday of the event was not mentioned. The event was the first eighth-mile sanctioned national event on record and was contested on the pit road at what is now Lowe's Motor Speedway.

| This video was originally aired on Speedvision, now commonly referred
to as SPEED. Before both Milan Dragway and U.S. 131 Dragway staged
their Nothern Nationals events, this race was conducted in Muncie, Ind.
This classic video features on the 1973 Northern Nationals and features
some of the finest racers of the era on the IHRA tour. Watching this
video will make one appreciate the level of safety in today's drag
racing as well as the basic drag strip "creature" comforts.

| This video was shot at an IHRA points race held at Brainerd Optimist
Drag Strip in North Georgia, just South of Chattanooga, Tennessee. A
building was blocking the view down track but there's some good
starting line footage with some excellent sound. This should get your
heart pumping. a A lot of the old IHRA runners such as Dennis Mitchell,
Bill Pucket, Tim Freeman and Wayne Allison are just a few of the names
you'll see.

| Back in the early days of Super Gas, when electronics were taboo, the
NHRA featured elaiminations from the 1982 Gatornationals. The 1983
season was the second full season for the 9.90 class and a driver could
actually enter and have a reasonable change of winning with an
all-steel car and a manual transmission. Watch this old Diamond P video
and you can see just how much the face of this class has changed.

| This rare video gem was broadcast on Speedvision and features coverage
of the 1975 IHRA Pro Am Nationals, the traditional spring race hosted
by Rockingham Dragway. Back in the day the IHRA provided an alternative
to the larger NHRA and to be honest, the racing wasn't that bad. You'll
see in this two-part video rewind footage of Don Garlits, Shirl Greer,
Raymond Beadle, Bob Glidden, General Lee Edwards and more. It's just
the perfect video for a holiday weekend.
