The CBS Sunday Morning segment on Melanie Troxel was first broadcast in April, re-broadcast in June, while CBS Sunday Early Morning produced a feature piece on John and Ashley Force, and CBS Evening News did a segment on blind crew chief, Jay Blake.

FHM Magazine produced a six-page feature on NHRA drag racing in their May issue.

Sports Illustrated has included feature stories on Melanie Troxel and Tommy Johnson, Jr and has included other snippets from time to time.

Both Hot Rod Magazine, still the largest circulation enthusiast print publication, has included regular coverage of NHRA drag racing, as has RACER Magazine.  Worth noting is that HRM had more or less discontinued drag racing coverage in recent years.

Both People and Star Magazines ran features on the Force Family in conjunction with the A&E reality show, “Driving Force.”

The New York Times (notoriously anti-motorsports) did a feature story on Troxel and Johnson, Jr.

CNN ran the Cory Mac crash repeatedly and followed up with the feature interview on The Paula Zahn Show.

J.R. Todd’s first national event victory was the first by an African American, and while unimportant to knowledgeable drag racing fans, it resonated with the general public and resulted in dozens of newspaper stories.

Del Worsham’s crash at the Finals received nationwide local TV coverage.
