REISTERER'S MARTIN CRASH

Doug Reiseter was uninjured when his car lost both rear wheels and
tires during a practice run on Friday afternoon during the ADRL Summer
Drags in Martin, MI.

“There’s not a ding on me,”
Reisterer said. “I didn’t really hit anything hard fortunately. I feel
pretty good considering it all.”

The car, according to Reisterer, is not in bad shape but is apparently done for the weekend.

“The chassis is probably in good shape and it will need some work in the back. It’s hurt and is most likely fixable.”

PATRICK: STILL DRIVING ONE

patrick.JPGRobert Patrick loves to win.

Sporting sponsorship from his father's Purvis Ford Lincoln Mercury
dealership located in Fredericksburg (Va), the son of Eli Patrick,
Robert hopes to put his Shelby Cobra Mustang in victory lane at U.S.
131 Dragway in victory lane for another even more important reason.

The winner of the inaugural ADRL Extreme Pro Stock event and a past
IHRA world champion, Patrick is gunning to take home the trophy in the
very first Ford Drive One Summer Drags. The ADRL has run at U.S. 131 in
the past four years; however this is the first year Ford has sponsored
the event.

ETOWN SEEKING PAST WINNERS

Track Seeking Past Englishtown NHRA National Event Champions

Are you a past or present Englishtown NHRA National Event Champion dating back to the 1968 Springnationals? Do you know how we can contact a past Raceway Park NHRA national event champion?

Old Bridge Township Raceway Park  would like to invite them to participate in a 40th national event celebration, which will be held during Raceway Park’s 40th annual United Association NHRA SuperNationals on June 11-14.

DEROCHE'S NESS/LEONARD GXP MAKES STRONG TEST SHOWING

Eric Deroche and his Dynomite Racing Team Pro Street/Top Sportsman GXP had a chance to finally hit the track at Firebird 1st_pit_3_re.JPGInternational
Raceway last Friday with one of the finest creations to come out of the
Don Ness stable of racecars. This one-off chassis was exclusively
designed to handle the ominous 892 cubic inch normally aspirated 2,000
HP motor prepared by veteran mega cubic inch engine builder Sonny
Leonard.

will return to competition at this weekend United Association NHRA
Route 66 Nationals. Meyer will compete against twenty-six Top Alcohol
Dragster teams at one of the toughest races of the season.

at Ipswich’s Willowbank Raceway this evening.

The professional categories of Top Fuel, Top Alcohol, Karcher Top
Doorslammer, Morgan & Wacker Top Bike, Pro Stock and Morgan &
Wacker Pro Stock Bike all took to the track to complete their first
qualifier, with two more to be run tomorrow ahead of Sunday’s finals.

Top Alcohol is already set to be a mammoth battle, with husband and
wife team Steve and Debbie Reed from Brendale as well as Hillcrest’s
Gary Phillips all fighting for the title in the closest remaining
battle of the Group One championship brackets.

HIGHT NOT DOWN IN SLUMP

The second half of the NHRA Full Throttle regular season starts this weekend at the 12th annual United Association NHRA Rt. 66 r_hight.jpgNationals
in Joliet. Early season championship favorite Robert Hight is looking
to forget about the first half of the season and concentrate on the
second half.

Never before has Hight started a season with less success than 2009 but
instead of getting down, the 2005 NHRA Rookie of the Year and two-time
championship runner-up is focusing on battling through the tough times
so success will taste that much sweeter.

“We are a team that is used to winning. We aren’t doing that now
obviously. We have sponsors like Auto Club, Ford, Castrol, Mac Tools,
and Brand Source that pay us to go rounds and we didn’t get the job
done in the first half of the season. Trust me I want to win. (Crew
chief) Jimmy Prock wants to win. We are going to really focus on the
second half of the NHRA season before the Countdown. I think if we can
average semi-final finishes the rest of the way we can get into the Top
5 in points,” said Hight.

FORCE AFTER OLD MAGIC IN RETURN TO ROUTE 66

Although John Force has been driving like a champ this year, his results could have as easily been achieved by a chump.
 j_force.jpg
With just seven races remaining before the field is pared to 10 drivers
for the NHRA's Countdown to the Championship, Force and his Castrol GTX
High Mileage Ford Mustang have no number one starts, no final rounds,
no wins, a losing record and they occupy only ninth place in the Full
Throttle Funny Car standings.

Needless to say, those are very un-Force-like statistics, ones the
60-year-old icon hopes to amend this weekend when he brings his Mustang
back the site of some of his biggest racing moments to compete in the
12th annual United Association Route 66 Nationals.

FORCE DISCUSSES 1320 RUMORS

If the NHRA returns to quarter-mile racing, and some tracks are not
improved, then racing could transpire without the 14-time force.JPGchampion John
Force and the members of his four-car Funny Car team. Force made the
statement on the new online radio show The Race Reporters with Michael Knight.

Force was asked by CompetitionPlus.com senior editor Jon Asher, a guest
on the show, about rumors that suggest he privately said that he would
retire and subsequently pull his daughter Ashley Force Hood from
competition if the NHRA returned to the 1320. Force denied the rumor
but added two prior catastrophic accidents and insurance regulations
would prevent his team from competing on a track deemed unsafe for
quarter-mile competition.
