As a tradition established years ago, CompetitionPlus.com has asked members of the racing community to provide our readers with what they are most thankful for during this holiday season. This year's featured person is Don Schumacher. The former drag racing and mega-successful multicar team owner Schumacher has overcome the challenges both on and off the track. 

In 2015, Schumacher added another major accolade to his multitude of racing and business accomplishments - cancer survivor.

I am THANKFUL for ... God's Gift of Life

I've had a phenomenal life from birth to today. I think this statement is pretty much self-explanatory. I look forward to what's ahead of me. 

I am THANKFUL for ... My Family

My wife Sarah and my children ... Tony, Tara, Samantha and Megan, I think any parent understands that kind of love. They are the sweetest and dearest to me in this world. 

I am THANKFUL for ... My Special Group of Friends 

I have a special group of friends, and they know who they are. They were with me both physically and spiritually a year ago during the toughest times in my life. I will decline to name names because I don't want anyone to feel anything less than they are very special to me. I love them all, and it has been a remarkable situation. 

I am THANKFUL for ... The Love Of Family, Friends, Team Members, Customers, Sponsors, Competitors and  NHRA Management

The love I have received from this broad group is something I am really thankful for. 

I am THANKFUL for ... The Health of My Family

I am blessed to have my family as healthy; and in knowing this, we can all enjoy the day we have been blessed with. Having my family in good health is a special, special situation. 

I am THANKFUL for ... Those Who Surround Me On A Daily Basis 

I am very thankful to every one of them, and will be so as long as I live. 

I am THANKFUL for ... The Ability to Look Forward To Tomorrow

When you face a life-altering situation as I did, it changes your life. You look at each day as a gift, and while today is Thanksgiving, we all should look at each day and always find a reason to be thankful. 

I am very thankful that I had that change in my life to understand just how precious life is.

I am THANKFUL for ... My Mom and Dad

They are no longer with me, but I am very thankful to have had them as parents. I give thanks for them, their guidance and love, in both my prayers and my everyday thoughts. They made me the man I am today. 

I am THANKFUL for ... You

Our drag racing family is certainly one big family. We all might have our differences, but at the end of the day we share a common love and passion. And to the readership of this publication, and all of our drag racing fans, I am thankful for you and your love of the sport. I think it is an awesome sport, and I love it just like you do.
