Four-time Top Fuel champion Shirley Muldowney, via her Twitter feed @RealMuldowney, confirmed her surgery went better than expected and what doctors considered to be a cancerous tumor might just be an infected tumor.

Muldowney confirmed Dr. Harold Howe removed the upper and middle lobes of her lung and lymph nodes, and sent them for further testing. The initial plan was to crack the ribcage and remove the right lung. However, this was unnecessary once the doctor was able to inspect the tumorous tissue.
