Sonny Leonard established a solid drag racing career in making mega-inch displacement race engines perform successfully. This pathway in his career has yielded numerous accolades along the way through his Sonny's Racing Engines brand.

Today word comes to us via veteran freelance writer Rod Short that Leonard has been presented the Lifetime Achievement Award from HPL Oil and the Virginia Transportation Museum.

The inscription on the award reads, "For Outstanding Vision, Dedication and Commitment to the Sport of Drag Racing."

Leonard was initially recognized at a special drag racing show at the museum late last year, but the team at HPL Oil wanted to be sure he had this updated trophy for his showcase at the shop.
