IT'S GONNA BE A WILD TIME AT THE AUSSIE JAMBOREE

THE YANKEES ARE COMING - AMERICAN RACERS INVADE JAMBOREE

Titan Motorsports stars, Garry White and Gabriel Rodriguez, will spearhead the American invasion at the Honeywell Garrett Brisbane Jamboree meeting at Willowbank Raceway Queensland, August 25-26.

White has been a part of the Florida based team for close on 20 years and will race a Toyota Supra in the J275 class.

“The Jamboree is a fantastic event,” said White. “The fan base makes it a unique and wonderful event to attend and race at. We are excited to bring the Titan Motorsports Toyota Supra to Australia and hope to race well and set new records. “

“If you mention the ‘Titan Motorsport Toyota Supra’ to anyone who follows sport compact racing, you will see their eyes light up,” according to Jamboree Event Director Collin Willshire. “This car was a real game changer in the early days of NHRA Sport Compact, TX2K and the NOPI drag racing series. This is probably the most famous sport compact of our generation.”

“While it might not have been raced for a couple of years, it remains a true icon of our sport and with some 2018-spec upgrades freshly installed, including a monster 98mm Precision Turbo, FuelTech ECU and Liberty Xtreme transmission.”

Joining White will be Puerto Rico star Gabriel Rodriguez racing a Toyota Camry in Pro Extreme and going head to head against the finest racers down under lead by local hero Ben Bray, New Zealander Rod Harvey and Sydney Jamboree winner George Rehaymen.

“It has been my dream to come to Australia and race, and we have jumped at the opportunity,” said Rodriguez. “We are hoping to run consistent ‘fives’ at the Jamboree as we’ve done in the States. It will be exciting to show what Titan Motorsports has done and continues to do in sport compact racing.”

Queenslander Ben Bray will lead a star-studded Factory Xtreme field at the Honeywell Garrett Brisbane Jamboree, at Willowbank Raceway Queensland, August 25-26.

Bray, best known for his exploits in Pro Slammer, has been the pacesetter in Pro Xtreme this season finishing runner-up to veteran George Rehaymen at the Sydney Jamboree, then, defeating Gina Bullians to winning the prestigious Winternationals title at his last outing in June.

While Bray will be hot favourite to take the win, all eyes will be on New Zealand star Rod Harvey who has replaced his long-serving Toyota Celica in favour of a Toyota Camry from the workshop of noted U.S chassis builder, Rick Jones.

“The new car is a lot lighter than our current car and will also benefit from some of our own history, with the engine and driveline from our beloved Celica to be transferred to the Camry,” said Harvey.

“The Celica has certainly served us well over the years - she was the first ever Factory Xtreme/Sport Compact car to run a five-second pass in Australasia and at 253 mile per hour is also the third fastest Sport Compact in the world. However, as she has aged, she is no longer designed to run as fast as we currently are and the weight is also becoming an issue against some of our competitors. With the engine and driveline going into the lighter and newer Camry, I think we are going to have a really powerful combination.”

Vying with Bray and Harvey as the star attraction of the largest Sports Compact meeting in the Southern Hemisphere will be reigning Australian Pro Slammer champ Paul Mouhayet who will race his ’68 Mustang in Pro Mod.

“I am a big fan of the Jamboree concept and of the Pro Mod category in particular,” said Mouhayet. “We have a new engine combination and I do have pretty high expectations for how the car will perform at the event. The car has run a 5.65-second pass at Willowbank Raceway so to go that fast again would be great. The Pro Mod field is looking pretty strong this year and there will be a combination of turbo and blown cars there so that will be really fun for the crowd. Willowbank Raceway is probably one of the fastest tracks that we have raced on and I certainly do enjoy racing there.”
