HIGH WINDS FORCE NHRA OFFICIALS TO SUSPEND FRIDAY QUALIFYING

At 6:15 PM, NHRA officials postponed the first professional qualifying session until 8 PM, EST at the NGK Four-Wide Nationals in Concord, NC, following high winds. One trio of Funny Cars managed to run before conditions became apparently unsafe for competition.

Two sessions of sportsman qualifying were completed before rain and high winds, halted competition just shy of 2:30 PM.

Competition is expected to resume at 8:15 PM, with the Q-2 session of Funny Car. There will only be one session for the professional divisions this evening.
