GONZALEZ TOPS FRIDAY GATORS PRO MODIFIED QUALIFYING

 

Jose Gonzalez sits atop the NHRA Gatornationals Pro Modified field courtesy of a 5.726 elapsed time at 255.15 miles per hour pass after two sessions on Friday. This weekend marks the first race of the season for the Pro Modified entries.

Jeremy Ray was second with a 5.792, 249, just ahead of fellow supercharged doorslammer racer Todd Tutterow, who turned in a 5.764, 248.75.

Khalid alBalooshi was the quickest of the nitrous cars, turning in a 5.777, 249.86 behind the wheel of his Rickie Smith-tuned, nitrous-injected Camaro.

Michael Biehle rounded out the top five with a 5.786, 255.15 best.

Notable included past PDRA Pro Extreme standout Jason Scruggs at sixth, while Rickie Smith was seventh in his turbo debut despite pulling the parachutes three car length early.

Pro Stock standout and recent Radial vs. The World champion Alex Laughlin was No. 14.

Harry Hruska anchors the field with a 5.948, 246.57.
