DELAGO BACK ON THE FREE AGENT MARKET

After a brief stint at Cruz Pedregon Racing, crew chief Tommy DeLago is back on the sidelines, and at a crossroads in his career.

Delago said he was informed on Friday, November 23, 2018 that there was no deal in place for his employment for 2019.

"It was pretty straight-forward, it's his car, and he can do whatever he wants to with it, and that includes tuning," DeLago said.

DeLago, who turns 50 next May, said he's seriously contemplating if his future will include tuning race cars.

"I've been doing this for over 26 years professionally," DeLago said. "I don't know how my skills translate to the real world. I'm not giving up on drag racing, but I do plan to spruce up my resume. I'm planning to flood the marketplace up here in the Detroit suburbs."

DeLago said he plans to go to next week's Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis.

"I'm all ears if someone would be interested in my services," DeLago said. "Not sure if the world outside of drag racing appeals to me, but at this point, my family is the first priority."

This year hasn't been the best one for DeLago, who was released from Kalitta Motorsports in May and joined with Pedregon in August.

"This hasn't been the best year for me, but I have had some good years and believe I still have some more left in me," DeLago said. "The landscape of NHRA nitro racing is tough now."
