COMPETITIONPLUS.COM TO DEBUT POWER HOUR TV SHOW TONIGHT

CompetitionPlus.com, a leader in online drag racing magazines for over two decades, will break ground in another arena this evening. At 9 PM EST on CompetitionPlus.com’s social media channels as well as the magazine, the POWER HOUR will go live.

Hosted by Monday Morning Racer’s Lee Craft and In the Groove podcast host Sam Smith, the CompetitionPlus.com POWER HOUR will discuss the latest drag racing news and feature special guests along the way.

The POWER HOUR’s initial foray into the world of live online television will feature the popular Ron Capps and Gary Scelzi discussing the landscape of drag racing as well as the good old days.

CompetitionPlus.com founder Bobby Bennett, who first launched the internet magazine in September of 1999, believes the POWER HOUR is a natural evolution of the popular drag racing magazine’s reach.

“When we launched CompetitionPlus.com in September of 1999, technology was pretty much limited, but that didn’t stop us from reaching to the edges of what was available,” Bennett said. “Those who were with us will recall we advertised ourselves as the future of drag racing magazines on the then unrefined world of the Internet. We had words to read and videos to watch.

“We have a large audience for CompetitionPlus.com, and while we have original programming such as our Legends: The Series and Storytellers, we felt having a live show was a must in our growing portfolio to keep these visitors engaged.”

Craft will serve as the lead host and believes the show will be engaging for viewers, who can communicate with the hosts on the various social media platforms where the show will broadcast.

“I believe the CompetitionPlus.com POWER HOUR will deliver powerful provocative and purposeful discussion on the full spectrum of the sport of drag racing,” Craft said. “It will connect fan, media, racer, and sanctioning bodies in a way that will hopefully move the sport forward while not dimming its glorious past.”

Smith joins Craft as an entertaining one-two punch in the presentation.

“I believe smashing the loud pedal saves lives, and we all must have those things that take us to our happy place,” Smith said. “Getting to connect a driver to his fans and community only drives the support one can have. I believe that’s what we have the opportunity to do with the Power Hour. Not only will we bring a personal twist with two of us young and passionate race fans, but we are also people you can relate to.”

Joining the team as the pit insider will be Funny Car driver Jeff Arend, who will bring notes and tips on stories floating around the pits.

“I’ve been reading CompetitionPlus.com for a long time and enjoy the magazine’s ability to get the inside stories,” Arend said. “I’m excited to be a part of this and hope The Insider will entertain as well as inform.”
