BROGDON RETURNS TO NHRA PRO STOCK, WILL RUN MUSTANG

Rodger Brogdon admits he just couldn't stay away.

On Tuesday, January 8, 2019, Brogdon confirmed he plans to return to NHRA Pro Stock competition behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Camaro prepared by Elite Performance. He will switch over to a new RJ Race Cars Mustang three races later to finish the season.

Brogdon, a six-time NHRA National event winner, three of which came in Pro Stock, admitted the logistics of running a 24-race schedule is what kept him from fully committing to a championship run. The ability to just show and drive is most appealing to Brogdon.

"I have thought about doing something for a while, and now seems to be the right time," Brogdon said. "I was pretty burned out when I walked away from the full-time deal. I have several businesses it home that i had to manage.

Twenty-four races are just a lot of races to manage for people who have to work for a living. I just couldn't race and devote the time at home that I needed to."

Brogdon pretty much made his mind up to return when the NHRA announced an 18-race schedule for Pro Stock back in November.

"We had thought about running a partial schedule before, but when they made the decision to go 18 races, the decision became easier," Brogdon admitted. "I think you are going to see more guys like me come back out here to race more.

"Coming to the races is a really good time for me. I couldn't have done this a year ago. Just to get to see all the people out here, it truly is a big family out here. You miss the fans and the competition. I can't say I know of one drag racer who quit just because they didn't enjoy drag racing. I'm one of those who has drag racing in my veins and can't seem to get it out of my system.
