For the first time since NHRA’s Western Swing in 2016, Bill Litton will be driving Worsham Racing's Top Fuel dragster in 2018.
 
“I call Del and Chuck (Worsham) the dream team,” Litton said. “I’m totally blessed, and I thank God on a regular basis that I got to license with Del and Chuck and I still get to work with them. I know I’m a small fish compared to the stuff they have worked with in the past.”
 
The first event Litton will run in the Worsham dragster will be in the newly-formed Nitro Outlaw Drag Racing Association that debuts March 17 at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Ariz.
 
“We are going to do the first race and we have a verbal (agreement) to do all the races in the Nitro Outlaw Drag Racing Association, but we want to make sure we both like the Nitro Outlaw Series,” Litton said. “If the first one goes well, we will do the remaining three. I’m totally excited about this race and this is about us trying to stay in the game. If we had a huge sponsor right now we would just be going nuts in the NHRA and trying to go after something.”
 
In addition to the season-opening race, Litton also is planning to run the Worsham dragster at the Nitro Outlaw Drag Racing Association events at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis (April 28), Bandimere Speedway in Denver (June 9) and Oct. 13 at the Texas Motorplex.

Litton said he also is planning to run a limited NHRA schedule with the first race most likely being the Spring Nationals (April 20-22) in Houston. Litton most recently drove the Worsham dragster at NHRA’s Nitro Spring Training (Jan. 31-Feb. 3) at Wild Horse Motorsports Park.

When Litton isn’t driving, he runs Litton Financial, his financial planning company based in La Jolla, Calif.

“We had a very good test session,” Litton said. “We went 3.98, 3.97 and 3.92. I wanted to get under 4 seconds bad. When I licensed in the Worsham dragster I was a little bit over 4 seconds and we never did get under 4 seconds on the Western Swing. So, to come right out at Phoenix and go under 4 seconds three times got me excited. The groove at Phoenix was not real wide when we got to test. The car was a handful and Del and Chuck both noticed it and that’s muscle memory to keep it in the groove and that helped my confidence to feel the car trying to get out and to drive it back in.”

Litton has already raced this season at the season-opening Winternationals last weekend in Pomona, Calif., but that was in a different class as he drove Randy Meyer’s Top Alcohol Dragster. According to Litton, he will also pilot Meyer’s dragster at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (April 6-8). Litton has one career Top Alcohol Dragster NHRA national event win in Dallas in 2015.
 
Litton first joined forces with the Worshams and made his Top Fuel debut in the Worsham Racing family dragster at the 2016 Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo. He followed that up with races at Sonoma, Calif., and Seattle that season.
