AUSTIN PROCK'S DEBUT SLATED FOR NHRA WINTERNATIONALS

The nitro drag racing career of Austin Prock is set to begin at the Winternationals Feb. 7-10.

Prock, the son of world championship crew chief Jimmy Prock, will be piloting a second Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing in Pomona, Calif.

Prock will be a dragster teammate to 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Series world champion Brittany Force.

“Obviously, I’m very excited,” said Austin about making his debut. “I don’t have a lot of nerves and I’m not really that nervous. I have Don Prudhomme and John Force and all the guys at JFR behind me so I have a lot of confidence.”

Prock, who officially licensed in a JFR nitro Funny Car last summer, made his first laps in a brand-new JFR Top Fuel dragster Feb. 2-4 at Winter Pro Testing at Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Chandler, Ariz.

On Prock’s first hit Feb. 2 he smoked the tires right off the starting line. According to Prock, he also made some pulls to the eighth-mile on Feb. 3-4.

“The dragster is quite a bit different than the Funny Car,” Prock said. “The dragster accelerates a lot quicker. When I tested, I was able to keep it right down the groove and the guys seemed confident about what I was able to do and I’m excited to get going this weekend.”
