ANTRON PREFERS PBJ MINUS PEANUT BUTTER

Antron Brown is an accomplished NHRA racer, highlighted by him winning three NHRA Top Fuel world championships in 2012, 2015-16.

Brown also is one of NHRA’s most popular drivers thanks to his charismatic personality.

Yet, just when you think you know a guy he has an odd quirk.

Brown likes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches minus the peanut butter.

“Just jelly baby, straight jelly,” Brown said. “No peanut butter. I eat peanut butter on other stuff. I eat peanut butter cookies, but I will not peanut butter on my sandwich.”

No peanut butter on a PBJ? Really?

“That’s a choke sandwich, it could get stuck,” Brown said. “The jelly is like a treat man. I’ve always had jelly sandwiches since I was a little kid.”

That seems odd.

“I don’t think I’m quite right either, so it goes with the territory,” Brown said.

Unfortunately for Brown, he had more time to think about jelly sandwiches July 22 as he was upset in the first round by Scott Palmer in the Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo.

Brown clocked a 4.047-second elapsed time at 300.13 mph, but was defeated by Palmer’s 3.894-second lap at 317.34 mph.

Brown, who drives the Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster for Don Schumacher Racing, will now have to turn his attention to the next event the July 27-29 in Sonoma, Calif.

Brown is sixth in the points standings.
