RIP HIP ROGER

A member of the drag racing message board community and a friend to Torco's CompetitionPlus.com passed away after a battle with cancer.

Roger D. Hood Sr., 62, (AKA HipRoger) formerly of Louisville, died Sunday, October 8, 2006 in New Albany, IN. He was a truck driver and a Catholic by faith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Bartley Hood. Survivors include his sons, Roger D. Hood II and Jason T. Hood; his father, Wilbert D. Hood Sr.; sisters, Paula M. Seaman, Denise A. Hood, Lisa K. Koppel and Theresa R. Williams; brothers, Wilbert D. Hood Jr. and Timothy L. Hood; and two grandchildren. Roger's funeral se rvice will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Keenan's Funeral Home, 4724 Dixie Highway at Rockford Lane, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. -8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday.

One of the brightest points for Roger transpired over the weekend of Indy when friends arranged a weekend with his hero Whit Bazemore.
