The Boston Business Journal reports Top Fuel team owner David Powers will represent Dunkin Donuts for at least two races in 2008 as part of a test sponsorship. The Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin Donuts also struck a deal with DPM developmental driver Zach Beard.

The marketing agreement lists the NHRA Gatornationals (Gainesville, Fla.) and the NHRA Southern Nationals (Atlanta, Ga.) as the two races for the special program.

According to the report, Dunkin’ Donuts will bring their 50-foot mobile unit to the events. This unit is expected to sell coffee, iced coffee and other food products.

The program was brokered by Kansas City-based Forward Sports Marketing and selected these events because of the NHRA’s ownership made negotiating retail rights easier. Adding further value to the program is Dunkin’ Donuts desire to further market their product within the southeastern United States.

Further aiding the deal to fruition was the relationship between the team’s crew chief Lee Beard and Doug Rainey, director of operations and new business development for Dunkin’ Brands.

The second-generation Beard is expected to run an A/Fuel Dragster during the two events.

An official announcement from the team, according to a source, is expected to come this week.
