BULLETIN TO TEAMS – Update on 2008 Rule Changes – Chassis Specs

From – NHRA Tech Department

In response to recent inquiries and discussions regarding chassis specs for Top Fuel and Funny Car, NHRA issues the following bulletin:

As part of its constant and ongoing efforts to enhance safety, NHRA collaborates with SFI teams, engineers and other experts on various technical issues. NHRA has been and will continue to be very active in working with SFI, John Force Racing and other teams, engineers, metallurgists and other experts regarding chassis specifications for Top Fuel and Funny Cars. The current chassis specifications are in the process of being revised for 2008.

NHRA will work with chassis manufacturers as to the time in 2008 when the new specs will be implemented to be sure that adequate supply is available. NHRA expects the specs to be finalized in the near future.

Until a new spec is adopted, the current specs will remain in place. Thus, heat treated or non-heat treated tubing will continue to be allowed in Funny Car as it has been for some years.
