We’ve since learned that in the thrash to get to the line for a qualifying
session Nance had borrowed a spare hood scoop from Ron Krisher’s
Valvoline-backed Chevy. Nance’s buddy Mark Pawuk (who loaned Nance his rig
for the Norwalk weekend) was working feverishly to get the scoop properly
mounted before the car had to get to staging and didn’t have enough time to
remove the “offending” Valvoline decal.
