After hundreds of stories told over the course of seven years, No. 1 seeded Bill Doner, and No. 6 Nicky Boninfante will square off in the final round of the War Stories Grand Championship presented by CompetitionPlus.com.

Doner, the 2010 champion, entered final eliminations as the No. 1 qualifier as selected by the readers of CompetitionPlus.com. His road to the championship round included victories over Larry Sutton and Jim Oberhofer.

Doner, one of drag racing's more colorful and successful drag racing promoters in the 1970s, carries a legacy of introducing the 32-Funny Car shows and once operating virtually all major nitro racing venues up and down the west coast. Drag racing history will show Doner is the only promoter to ever had the famous Linda Lovelace as a race queen.

Boninfante, the 2012 champion, was the sixth-seeded contestant and defeated Pat Musi and Louie Force to earn his berth in the final round.

Boninfante, who now works as assistant crew chief for Del Worsham, had a knack of involuntarily getting himself into no-win situations which included burning a rental car to the ground in Las Vegas with Bob Gilbertson. He is clearly a throwback to the 1970s when having a good time clearly outweighed the political ramifications.

Both final round contestants are undefeated in War Stories series having won in their inaugural participation until now.
