2014 Courtney Force No-Hat HeadWhile her legendary father John Force stole all the headlines last week when he accepted crew chief Jimmy Prock's resignation, Courtney Force is focusing on what is in front of her.

Courtney trails points Matt Hagan by 72 points with just two races remaining - Las Vegas (Oct. 30-Nov. 2) and Pomona, Calif. (Nov. 13-16).

"We are in a pretty good spot and everybody is so close in the points," said Courtney, who is third in the points one spot behind her father,, who is 36 points behind Hagan. "This championship you can shuffle up and down pretty easily so you really just have to have to kind of stay ahead of the game. I'm excited and very hopeful we can do well and we are just going to have to keep pushing hard and take it round-by-round."

Courtney has won a career-high four races this season at Topeka, Kan., Sonoma, Calif., Dallas and St. Louis. She also has one runner-up finish at Atlanta to her John Force Racing teammate, Robert Hight. Additionally, Courtney has qualified No. 1 four times in 2014.

Courtney also knows to make the season finale at Pomona matter she has to be at her best at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"Vegas is going to be a huge race for our Traxxas team for us to even have a shot at the championship," said Courtney, who lost in the first round at Reading, Pa., to Jeff Arend in the most recent race on the circuit. "We really have to keep our focus and we really have to go rounds and collect those bonus points throughout qualifying. It is hard and it is going to be tough coming from the No. 3 spot. You have to stay ahead of all of the guys behind you as well as go rounds past Hagan and past my dad. In order for that to happen their cars are going to have to stumble somehow. That doesn't happen very often. They are 1 and 2 in points for a reason. We just have to hold on and do our job these last two races for the team and our sponsors. This is has been a good track for our team and hopefully we will go rounds again."

At the Las Vegas fall race, Courtney qualified No. 1, but was upset in the second round by Cruz Pedregon. In the two Vegas races in 2013, Courtney lost in the finals to Pedregon in the spring race and was runner-up to her father in the fall race.
