LIMITED RUN WELD WHEEL HONORS LARSON ACCOMPLISHMENT

Larson-Front-Wheel-Web-ResWhen Larry Larson was considering all the challenges faced by racing in the 2014 Drag Week events, he knew it would take special parts and pieces to complete the grueling endeavor. To take a highly modified 1998 Chevy S-10, named Reason #8, built for all out speed, and drive it hundreds of miles a day on the streets and highways of the Midwest, called for some out of the box thinking.

“I knew I wanted to change front wheels between what I used on the street and what I used once I got to the race track, but there isn’t an aftermarket brake kit that allows for quick changes. I had planned on running a spindle mount front wheel and just loosening the brakes each time I changed wheels to make it work. Scott (Rider, V.P. of Engineering) at Weld Racing knew that would cause eventual problems with the brakes. He came back to me with drawings for something new,” explained Larson.

That something new is Weld Racing's Alumastar 6-one-6 wheels, in honor of Larson’s record setting 6.16 E.T.

Based on the track proven Alumastar front wheel, this limited edition, new design allows for the spindle mounted center to stay in place on the spindle while the outside rim and mounted tire can be removed and changed for different set-ups. Titanium bolts hold the center to the rim.

Larson commented on the new design by saying, “This made it easy to swap wheels quickly and provided the edge I needed.”

Larson-Back-Wheel-Web-ResThe Alumastar 6-One-6 design is now available from Weld Racing in limited quantities for only a limited time. Priced at an MSRP of $999.99 for either an Anglia or Strange spindle mount, the Alumastar 6-One-6 is a 15”x3.5” wheel with polished center and modular black rim shell.

To match the Alumastar 6-One-6, Weld Racing is offering as a limited edition, the 15” black rim shell RTSS71 style rear wheel that Larson used in all his on-road adventures getting to and from the tracks during Drag Week. These limited quantity, special RT-S wheels are only available in 15” diameter; ask your dealer for limited time special pricing.

In honor of Larson’s 219 MPH pass, Weld will only make a total of 219 of these two styles of wheels. Each wheel will come with a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Larry Larson.
