“I will be driving a brand new 2015 Camaro turbo car in Pro Mod,” Cannuli, 38, said. “I will drive the car here in the United States.”

It will be a Rick Jones-built car and the engine power will be provided by Richard Freeman at Elite Performance.

Cannuli drives an alcohol Funny Car and a Pro Mod car in Australia.

“Thanks to Richard, he’s giving me the opportunity to race here in America,” said Cannuli, who is married to Tucker’s sister Kirsten. “I’m very excited to get to do this.”

Freeman was happy to put this deal together.

“We had talked about it and we have all the parts coming for a new motor and we were kind of looking for someone to team up with and buy the car,” Freeman said. “We’ve been racing with Shane (Tucker) and his family and we’ve had a great time and now we’re going to do this deal. We are going to start building the (Pro Mod car) right now. We are going to diversify for the motor program and all of our customers at Elite Motorsports. Pro Stock is one thing, but we need to get in the other classes.”

Shane Tucker, has been running engines provided by Freeman since the Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol, Tenn., June 13-15.
