UTI TO SPONSOR MAPLE GROVE RACEWAY JR. DRAGSTER CLASS

Maple-Grove-RacewayUniversal Technical Institute will return as the primary sponsor of Maple Grove Raceway’s Jr. Dragster program as part of a multi-year agreement announced today.

In addition, UTI will continue its sponsorship of two events, the High School Challenge and the Funday Sunday Trophy Day.

“This partnership dates back to 2004 and we’re happy to extend it,” said MGR Vice President and General Manager Lex Dudas.

“We are thrilled to announce that Universal Technical Institute in Exton (Pa.) is now the exclusive partner of Maple Grove Raceway,” said Robert Kessler, UTI’s Regional Vice President of Operations. “For the past nine years, our relationship with this organization has proven to be incredibly positive and beneficial to our students, staff and the community at large. Over the next two years we look forward to evolving this important partnership even more through raceway and school-sponsored events, and are excited to demonstrate the value and opportunity that can come when education and business intersect.”

Maple Grove’s Jr. Dragster series program, among the most successful in the nation, gives young racers between the ages of 8 and 17 an opportunity to compete in drag racing before graduating to bigger cars. The half-sized Jr. Dragsters race an eighth-mile distance.

Team Maple Grove has won one NHRA National Championship and three NHRA Eastern Conference championships, most recently in 2010.

The 2014 Jr. Dragster program will once again be part of the Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail schedule and will race 15 times this summer. The 2014 Jr. Dragster series begins on April 19.

The High School Challenge, scheduled for April 27, gives younger drivers a chance to safely race their cars down Maple Grove’s quarter-mile drag strip and an opportunity to represent their respective schools. Nearly 40 high schools from an area ranging from the Lehigh Valley to York were represented.

Funday Sunday, scheduled for Sept. 21, which also doubles as UTI’s homecoming race, gives novice racers a chance to show their stuff and win some hardware. UTI students and instructors also race each other in their own competition.

Maple Grove Raceway’s 52nd season will open April 5-6 with its annual spring swap meet. Drag racing begins on Saturday, April 12, with grudge racing and a Test ‘n’ Tune session. Maple Grove Raceway’s NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series national event will take place on Oct. 2-5.
