THE CAROLINA KID IS READY TO IMPROVE IN 2014

DSD 3545The “Carolina Kid” is ready to improve in 2014.

The 2013 season was a milestone in Travis Harvey’s career, finishing second in both Pro Modified and Top Dragster in the ADRL.

Going into the final race of the season at Baytown Texas, Harvey's points lead in Top Dragster fell short in the semi- final round. Harvey lost to Barry Brown, who won the race and the championship.

The finish was no reason to be ashamed.

“I want to thank everyone for what has went on,” stated Harvey. “I have the best car owner and equipment that I could ever ask for.”

Entering the 2014 race season, Harvey is ready for battle after making some off-season changes.

Harvey acquired Shannon Jenkins’ former Pro Nitrous 69 Camaro from Dobbs Racing last November. Harvey and team will compete this year in the  newly developed Pro Drag Racers Association (PRDA) starting in April.

“This car is a lot lighter and it’s the best money can buy,” explained Harvey. “Russ Farmer (Racetech) put the set-up in the RJ car so you can tell very little difference other than weight between the two.”

Committed to run the full eight race season of the PDRA, Harvey also hopes to acquire his NHRA Pro Modified license and race select NHRA events.

“If things work out we will run some NHRA Pro Mod races as soon as Bristol,” stated Harvey.

Racing as often as he can will be a critical part of 2014.

After the off-season changes, Harvey hopes to return to the Winner Circle and become the first ever PDRA Pro Modified Champion.

“If we can do what we did last year that would be great,” Harvey stated. “However improving to number one is the ultimate goal.”
